Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSAGo online now and get your PIN. Gather information needed to complete the FAFSA. After January 1, 2013, you can enter your information online. Be sure to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to update your FAFSA with IRS tax return information. The earlier you complete your FAFSA the better your chances of getting financial assistance. Check with the college/university you are going to attend to find out the deadlines that may apply.

College Entrance Tests:Most colleges and universities require an entrance exam for acceptance. The ACT and/or the SAT are used for this purpose. Check with the school you are interested in attending to find out which exam they prefer. Texas schools will accept either test. Spring of the junior year is the ideal time to take the exams. Community Colleges may require other entrance exams, such as COMPASS or ACCUPLACER.
